Former Vice President of Nigeria and chieftain of the All progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has denied knowledge of the groups of politicians who recently announced their defection from the opposition party to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
A statement by Atiku's media office in Abuja stated that the former Vice President remains a committed member of the APC and urged that the purported defections of these groups be discountenanced.
Some political groups under the umbrella of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku (AAA) and People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) in six states of Nigeria's South-West region had declared their unwavering support for reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming presidential election.
The group said their decision was based on the President's commitment to the implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference.
